It’s the first airline loyalty program built exclusively for Hawaiʻi residents, launched by Hawaiian Airlines after its combination with Alaska Airlines, and more than 300,000 kamaʻāina have already signed up.
What is Huakaʻi by Hawaiian?
Huakaʻi (“journey”) is a free membership program that gives Hawaiʻi residents extra value on Hawaiian Airlines travel — especially interisland flights. Unlike a one-time fare sale, it’s an ongoing membership: once you’re enrolled, the perks apply every time you fly.
What you get
- One free checked bag on interisland flights (up to 50 lbs) for the enrolled member — handy for a weekend on a neighbor island.
- Quarterly discount codes — four a year, issued March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1. Each code is single-use, works on interisland Main Cabin and First Class fares, and can cover up to seven passengers on one booking.
- Resident-only deals — members get access to kamaʻāina fare discounts and periodic network-wide offers.
The free bag and the discount codes apply to the enrolled member’s bookings, and they don’t stack with other baggage benefits or promotions.
Who’s eligible
Membership is open to Hawaiʻi residents with a valid Hawaiʻi residential address. You enroll online through an Atmos Rewards account — Hawaiian’s loyalty program after the Alaska merger. Keiki under 13 can’t enroll online and need to call the Atmos Rewards Service Center. Your eligibility is re-verified each year on your enrollment anniversary.

- Sign in with your Atmos Rewards account, or create one if you don’t have it.
- Make sure your Hawaiʻi residential mailing address is on the account, then complete the address verification.
- Once you’re confirmed, the quarterly codes land in your account on the schedule above.
Is it worth it?
For any kamaʻāina who flies interisland even a couple of times a year — yes. A single free checked bag can more than offset the (zero) cost of joining, and the quarterly codes stack real savings on top. It’s free, it’s ongoing, and there’s no downside to signing up.
